Drake - Trophies

If Drake saw this, he would prob be mad that I used that pic for the thumbnail. But I feel that this image of young Aubrey represents all things great about him. He's earnest, a little bit embarrassing, and so enthusiastic about whatever he's doing you are too. In the instance of this photo, Drake is excited about his acid wash denim jacket and Jewish grandmother bifocals. In this song, Drake is once again psyched about his rap success. As any Drake fan knows, he sings/raps about this concept a lot. "Started from the Bottom," "Over," and "Successful" use the phrases "mil" "half a mil" and "I'M THE SHIT" (jk I made the last one up) so often that you would expect Aubrey to be the most hated man in rap music. For some, he is. But for others (me), the celebration of his career trajectory is endearing. New single "Trophies" is more of the same, but i'm still going to bop around to it gleefully.

Ps. He rocked on SNL last weekend, so perhaps this was written with some bias. Go watch his performance with Jhene Aiko immediately.
